Thank you Lightning 100 and Lipscomb University for Free Shows

I don't feel like writing a long post and I am guessing you guys don't want to read a ton because if you're like me, your attention span is not very long.  Monday-Thursday I babysat the 9 year old twins.  We had some drama.  Among that drama, Tyler the dog decided it would be a good idea to eat blue home-made play-dough.  Well you can imagine how agreeable it was after he ate it.  So yes it ended up halfway digested on Pat's white carpet. yuck.

Thursday night Lightning 100 (local awesome radio station) continued it's Live on the Green free concert series.  They invited Thad Cockrell, Matthew Perryman Jones and Dave Barnes to play.  All 3 are amazing.  I accidentally left my camera in the car on Thursday night, but I managed to get some pictures last night when I was able to attend yet another free concert sponsored by Lipscomb University.  They brought in Matt Wertz and Sister Hazel.  (Sidenote, on Thursday when Dave played he brought out Matt to help him out on a few songs)...So, last night when Matt was the entertainment, he invited Dave out with him as well as Thad so it was like Thursday revisited just in a different order (minus Matthew Perryman Jones).

That's Thad in the red. Matt on the far right.

 Best friends Dave and Matt

Dave up close and personal.

And then Sister Hazel topped off the night.  Honestly I only stayed for like 3 songs of theirs because I only know like maybe 3 and my favorite one "All for You" was most likely going to be the very last song they played so I didn't care to stay that long.

Instead, I went and met up with my friend Abby and we went to the Bunganut and were entertained by watching 50-65 year olds dancing at the bar.  It was quite funny.

Over and out.

Thanks for reading--if you still are, I never get any comments :>(

Keep on Doin' What You Do, B......But Remember "Now is Not Forever"

I know, I know, I know....blog posts only two days apart?  Are we reverting back to xanga frequency, Faith?  Well, I wanted to blog about B's release party while it was still fresh.  Oh my goodness, it was so much fun!  I invited my friend Valerie because I knew she'd enjoy it too and so that I'd always have someone to talk to if mingling turned out to be a bust.  Welp before it even got started we had the fun time getting to mingle and talk to Dave Barnes.  Not only does he have a fantastic singeing voice and is a gifted lyricist, but if you didn't know this before.....that guy is stinking hilarious. (<---click link to justify my statement)  I had met him a few weeks ago at work, and he knows I'm friends with Seth (who he is friends with too) and I could tell he was reeling, trying to figure out why I looked familiar.  Anyways, I filled him in and he did a crazy (ah HAH! That's it! laugh)  Then when we were all wrapping up the convo, he was like, well I'll see you again I'm sure.  And I said, yup, I'm there Monday/Friday.  I'm at Gotee Tues-Thurs.  He goes, "Ah, so you're cheating...double dipping!".  yup.  I am posting a video of him sharing nice words about B on my Facebook.  I still can't figure out how to make my blog capable of uploading videos.  The icon is nowhere to be seen.

Dave said some of the sweetest things about B.

So the actual party was great fun.  It even involved crowd participation.  I was feeling gutsy when B conducted a trivia portion of the night.  (Hello challenge team/nerd bowl...I have ALWAYS loved trivia)  He asked, "who knows all the bands that I am touring with on the Creation Fest tour right now?"...Welp, thanks to my OTHER internship at Dryve, I knew this answer because I entered those tour dates for TFK on their website.  So, I got to go up on the mic, spill the answer, get a high 5 from B (who at this point I had not officially met and he didn't know I was basically his intern), and I won a gift card to supposedly this amazing coffee shop.  It is where he got coffee on his first episode of his webisodes called "something 2 remember".  To view this episode, click here
It's actually quite entertaining. I recommend watching. B's hilarious...and the boy can rhyme...and be smooth. :>)

Anyways, the rest of the party was quite fun.  My superiors introduced me to @therealtobymac (if you want to follow him on twitter).  Toby is a very small guy.  And his wedding ring is tattooed.  So hardcore.  It was a pleasure meeting one of my childhood heroes...shoot, it's a pleasure working for him.  He does not come in the office when I am there, but Joey (the other president) is there every day and he is fantastic too.  I am truly blessed by the people I work with, and last night, it was affirmed that it works the other way around too.  I was humbled.

B.Reith with Joey Elwood (Gotee president)

To end the night, I introduced myself to B and talked to him a bit. I told him that I had a great time and I was truly encouraged by his music.  He thanked me for winning.  (He was kinda left hanging, cuz no one else was knowing the answer.)  It was a great night, and dude, the new album is phenomenal.  I am not just plugging him because he's on the label I am working for.  Seriously, go get that album.  It is only $7.99 on iTunes right now.  To sample and see a little bit about who B is, watch this---the single from his first EP. Or if you're more in a lovey dovey mood, watch AweStruck

B's last performance was one of my top 3 faves on the new album.  It's a very sweet worshipful song and you can view it here (from a few months ago when he sang it live fresh after being written)

Thanks to those who watched the Live party.  Gah, it was such a blast. I know Mom and Dad watched it and Hillary attempted.  Thanks guys!  It was really important to me and I'm so glad that y'all chose to be a part of it with me and as always are special part of my life.

All I Can Say is that My Life is Pretty Plain...I Like Watching the Puddles Gather Rain....

Well, it is Sunday.  I visited Brentwood Baptist today.  I enjoyed it.  It's way super huge but I think I'll go back.  They have a big Bible study on Tuesday night (Ags, I think it is similar to Breakaway) that is geared towards young adults, not just college students.  I can't go this week because I am nannying again (call me Mom) but hopefully next week I can check it out.

As far as this blog's title goes, it has been raining pretty much non-stop for a solid week.  I love rain, but I am missing the sunshine severely.  I am thankful that generally I am never having to walk too far in it or I have my umbrella handy.  10 points if you can name what band sings that lyric without googling it.

Tomorrow night, if you're free at 8 P.M. central time, I'm going to need you to do me a favor and tune in to www.breith.com and watch B's CD release listening party live.  Look for yours truly! I will be there in the flesh.  This will be my first time to be at anything that is streaming live on the internet with the possibility of you maybe seeing me.  I'm pretty pumped.  Last week B's manager extended a personal invitation to me for the party.  I was kinda blown away.  Also guest appearing will be Dave Barnes and TobyMac so hopefully I will finally have the opportunity to shake hands with "the big boss man"-----> Toby.

Yesterday, I had a grand old time hanging with Sethy.  He took me to lunch to thank me for helping him with music stuff cuz I am basically his intern too.  It's fun helping a friend.  He's getting ready for a new roommate to share his room, so I helped him clean and reorganize the room.  8 hours later I went home. The room looks great in case you're wondering.  We ate lunch at a local joint called Baja Burrito.  I am thrilled to have experienced it because after missing Freebirds, it is a great substitute.  Furthermore, it is cheaper AND olives is an option and sour cream is not an "extra".  Pure bliss.  Guac is an extra so I passed but maybe next time I'll splurge.  The clincher is it is walking distance from my Monday/Friday internship.  I usually pack a lunch but now I can make plans to get that for lunch on occasion.

Seth's show Tuesday was killer.  His friend Rob Blackledge played after and he was great too.  Matt Wertz made a guest appearance as well.  Here are some pics from Tues:

Sethy and the band (I think it was actually Wertz's band)

Seth-Ro

Rob on keys and Matt laughing (they cheesed up the song A LOT)

I guess that was a brief summary of the last few days.  I hope everyone is doing well.

No Specific Title for This One I Guess...

Howdy everyone!

I have been remiss in my blogging and I apologize.  I will still try to keep this brief even though it has been over a week since I updated.  This past week was somewhat uneventful, however I did have 2 encounters with music stars that I look up to.

Let's begin with last week at Gotee on Tuesday...Well, B.Reith is one of our artists and his album is coming out next Tuesday, September 22nd.  So I am working on the computer, and I am listening to B's new album, because let's face it, it's good.  When I look up because instinctively I feel like I should for some reason, B is on the front porch on the other side of the front door.  I quickly pause the music, because, "how embarrassing would that be?"  I just thought it would be a rather odd first impression.  Anyhow, he finally walks in after about 8 agonizing minutes of silence and stomach turns of nervousness (because let's just say he's easy on the eyes in my opinion, not to mention, he makes good music).  He walks in, we exchange greetings.  End of story.

Yesterday, I was at Dryve and had the pleasure of meeting Steve, the drummer of Thousand Foot Krutch/FM Static and Joel, the bass player for TFK.  They were both super nice and great.  So let me think.  Up to this point, I have met 12 (if I counted right) respectable musicians in this wonderful industry.  I am loving life right now!  I just hope all this networking is leading to something great.

In other news, just the daily business office-y stuff, I get the privilege of signing for deliveries, such as new records and you know, Relient K's guitars. No big deal....

The other day I went to Border's and met a guy who was performing there.  We exchanged contact info because he may be in need of some help with what he's doing too.  He's pretty good. (www.tylersummers.com)  Then I went (for the first time) to the movies all by myself and saw 500 Days of Summer.  LOVED IT.  Maybe one of my new favorite movies, and this scene was AMAZING: Awesomeness

Tonight, I am heading into Nashville to see my friend Seth Philpott perform some good soul music.  I've also been an unofficial intern for him too.  I've been helping him out with some Facebook marketing and such.  Good stuff. Good stuff.

Welp, so much for brief.  Happy birthday, Henry V. I love you!

So Today I Got Spoiled....

First off, I visited The People's Church today and I really liked it!  Better yet, I ran into a girl named Abby who I know from A&M! We were both in Phi Lamb together and she just moved to Franklin like 6 days ago!  Again, she is doing the same thing I am.  She is living with her cousin (probably temporarily) so I dunno, MAYBE she'd need a roommate or something.  :) She is gonna be subbing in schools hopefully but ultimately wants to pursue the music industry like me.  WHOOP!  Small world and boy was it refreshing to run into someone that I actually know, especially cuz yesterday I had a bad case of the homesickness/lonesomeness.  Praise God for friends and Aggies!

After church, I went to another church's picnic lunch (I've been attending that church a little bit too and the people have been so welcoming---I love them!).  I got to meet a guy who is fairly well connected in the business and he encouraged me a lot and told me that he'd keep his ears open for opportunities for me.

After the picnic, (well, I had been driving the BMW all day) Marilyn said we could go for a drive...with the top down.  So, about 2 hours later, I had been spoiled getting to drive a BMW convertible all over Franklin & Leipurs Fork.  It was a blast!

This was when we finished the drive.  This is me in front of the Hoekstra's house...where I am living.  So guys, you finally have a visual of "my house"!
It was a gorgeous day and now it is actually raining! We got home just in time it seems.  Well I finally have more uploaded pictures, so here ya go:

Here is the Beatles cover band at Bunganut.  The man guy with the maroon (whoop!) pants and the black hat is THE Mr. Mark Lee Townsend.

This is Marilyn when we had a nice lunch on Thursday at one of my new favorite spots in Franklin--Franklin Mercantile.  It was so cute and the food was yummy.

And you drink out of Mason jars! It was so fun.

Also in Franklin is a soap store called Bathos.  They make their own bath stuff and they have bath fizzys that are called, you ready for this? HULLABALLOOS!  Can I get a Caneck Caneck?

On Friday after work I decided to go to Greece...
Nah actually I just drove and walked around Centennial Park. It's pretty great.
I guess that is about it for now.  Time for pizza and 27 Dresses with Marilyn tonight!

Rain, Rain, DON'T Go Away...

Good morning, blog-readers.  Currently it is 62 degrees and thunderstorming. Weather.com gives me this report: Franklin Weather 9/3/09
Looks like rain all day.  I am ok with that.  However, I just got the girls off to school for my 3rd day in a row and now I have a day to myself because Gotee told me I didn't need to come in today.  Brad's (guy at work) mac died last week so he's kinda just been taking over computers each day.  He's going to use mine today, so they didn't want me to come in and not have a computer.  I said I could bring my own laptop if they needed me.  I told them I'd be more than willing to do that, so they are just going to call me if they need me for anything.

I was planning to hang out in downtown Franklin and just go to different shops maybe but I may not do that if it is raining a lot.  Downtown Franklin is really cute and I haven't really given it much time to explore it:

Here is the Starbucks in downtown Franklin.
If the weather clears up, and someone else can watch the girls for a few hours til their mom gets home, I'd like to go to Nashville tonight for the first of six concerts in a series for Live on the Green, a free concert that tonight will be featuring:

Heather, I thought of you immediately when I saw the Toadies will be there.  I am also excited about Ten out of Tenn (TOT).  But, I won't get my hopes up because I may not be able to go, or it might be rained out (?).  We shall just have to see how the day goes.

Right now I am sitting with Tyler (the dog) and I need to take him on a walk so he can relieve himself.  Do you take dogs for walks in thunderstorms?  Should I just wait a little longer?  I don't even know....

During work yesterday, Mr. Mark Lee Townsend came by so that was pretty cool.

Sorry this post is kind of all over the place.  This is my 3rd day in a row of waking up around 6:30 a.m. which is pretty crazy for me.  Anyhow,
