THIS IS AMERICAN IDOL.....

Abigail and I did go audition in Arlington, TX on Friday for American Idol. Sadly, we were "not what they were looking for" this season. Also sadly we did not get to see Ryan Seacrest or any of the famous judges. (I really wanted to meet Simon really bad) The only judges here were producers, so I sang in front of someone who I don't even know who she was. I sang literally half of the first verse of Wide Open Spaces before I was cut off. :>( I guess time was of the essence when I am guessing there were about 6,000 people there to audition in just one day.

Everyone was up in the stadium seating and we were brought down section by section. Once on the floor, there were long lines of 4 people across. Then each group of 4 people walked to one of 12 booths, and sang individually in front of the judge. It was long, but fairly efficient.

Overall, I had a great trip! It was a nice respite from work. I got to visit my good friends Alyssa and Callie and Angela while I was up there. I also met a nice Aggie in a coffee shop. Love that network!

After I left Dallas, I went to San Antonio to see my friend Kristen Huddleston. We worked the merchandise table for Autumn and Walt Wilkins for a show. It was pretty fun, but quite hot because the show was outdoors. Today I got to visit the Alamo for the first time since I was I think in a stroller. I didn't remember it being so small. Did it shrink? I guess I just got taller. Also the Gap had a killer jeans sale and I got 2 pairs of the most pefect fit for $19.99 each...regularly $58. I was in heaven. Well, it is nice to be back in College Station. This has been "home" for 4 years but it is kinda weird that I really only have about 4 more weeks left here. I am ready for a change though. I think it will be great.

I'm Only Sleeping....

Or not...This blog is entitled "I'm Only Sleeping" because it is ironic..clearly I am not sleeping, and it is almost 2 a.m. Even though I am tired, I guess the iced tea I had actually did have more caffeine than I imagined it had. I am tired, but not sleepy. Sadly there is a difference and you must feel both before you can successfully fall asleep. Maybe it's just me.

(this is an old picture I had on my hard-drive...Reilly still behaves the same)

So here I sit with Reilly. I am trying to prevent him from scratching on M&D's door because he would really prefer to be in there with them. That wouldn't be a good Father's day present---woken up to a "cat that wants to suck your breath out" (haha, Hillary+Liesey).

I have been practicing for my American Idol audition that may or may not happen.

I went swimming today and finally got a little color. That's exhilarating.

I think I may be sleepy now.

She's COUNTRY...from her cowboy boots to her down home roots

Howdy reader-followers---all 4 of you!

So the past week I have reaffirmed my love for country music and its videos. They are like short little movies and they also are very educational. This is the way I see it. Soon and very soon I will be serving the music industry in Nashville. What if I ran into Blake Shelton or Josh Turner, etc. in the supermarket and I did not previously know what they looked like? What a shame that would be that the opportunity to professionally meet them had passed me by because I was ignorant about their appearance. Gotta love CMT/GAC.

I've decided that country music is wonderful food for the soul and mind as well. It is so refreshing, and downright hilarious. If it is not a feel-good love song for a small-town woman/man or way of life, it is a hilarious song about lost love and love found again. It is a winning combination if you ask me.

Check out "People are Crazy" by Billy Currington. It is one of my favorites for now:

"Good is great. Beer is good. People are crazy."....Here here, I'll raise my glass to that. :>)

So I almost bought a ticket to fly the coup to Hong Kong next week but it didn't work out. However, since that fell through, I am going to follow through with my tentative plan to attend the American Idol auditions in Dallas next week. I know I won't make it very far but it will be quite the experience to give it a whirl!

Take the last train to Nashville.....

Oh wait, the Monkees didn't want to go to Nashville, it was CLARKSville...My bad. :>) Well, I have just hung up the phone with a dear friend from my home church who has friends in Franklin/Nashville that I might can live with this fall! That would be wonderful, no? I am about to go crazy working at corps recruiting now that I can see light at the end of the tunnel and a semblance of a different life in just a mere 2 months. Ah, 2 months. It seems so far away! To be honest, I don't really know what I'll be doing at my internship, but for all I know, I could be Toby Mac's assistant. My friend Teddy interned last summer with Gotee, and that is what he did. I would be ok with that.

Me + hanging with

= FUN!!

Even if I am not Toby Mac's assitant, I will hopefully get to meet my
favorite boys in Relient K at some point but I won't get my hoopes up.
(Hoopes = intentional typo)

Jon, Matt, Matt, Ethan, John

So I have been busy trying to sort of clean up my room a bit and get rid of junk
that I don't need. Today I scrubbed the bathtub. Ewwww. Tonight I am going to the Hall for an
acoustic set by Mr. Mike Eli of the Eli Young band. MMMM. I am excited.
This makes my 3rd show in about a week, and I had been to quite a few before
last week. I need to quit doing that, but I love my music. So for now, I don't
have much new news, so here's to you, followers.
I am not sure where we are going, but thanks for
following!

Take the last train to [Nash]ville.
I'll be waiting at the station.
We'll have time for coffee flavored kisses
And a bit of conversation.
Oh... Oh, no, no, no!
Oh, no, no, no!

Coffee flavored kisses? That sounds nice. hahaha

Just another "Manic Monday"

Hello blogworld!

So the newest and greatest news is this: I have received offers for 2 internships in Nashville. One of them is with Platinum Pen Publishing and the other is with Gotee Records. I am beyond stoked! For over 7 years I have been a committed fan to my favorite band of all time: Relient K. Guess what record label they are under?
Yes indeed. You guessed correctly. Gotee--which was started by Toby Mac, of dcTalk. MMHMM. (<---RK fans, catch the reference?) God is blessing me! I cannot be more thankful. I have found myself waking up each morning (since I found out) and just praising Him. Next is to figure out where I can live at least temporarily, and how soon will I relocate myself to the area. Gotee's offer is for the fall semester, and Platinum Pen's offer is "name my own time", so potentially I could try and swing it to do both. It is a matter of trust and timing to see how God wants to work it out. In the meantime, my motto is, "excel at the revealed things of His will". I have it written on my mirror so I can see it when I am getting ready in the mornings.
So in the immediate future, I am still in College Station working at good ole' Corps of Cadets Recruiting, saving money, and preparing to move out of my house.
Life is a highway. I wanna ride it. I am loving this adventure so far.
